If you’d like to donate a care box or bag in memory of someone special (maybe your baby who has passed away, a friend’s child, or someone else special to you), please make a donation for the value of a box or bag, and send me a message via our online form of the donation or contact pages, or send us an email. Please include your details so we can match you up with your donation, and include the writing you’d like included on the special card we will include in the box for you.
Once the box or bag is put together with your note, I’ll send you a photo before it’s donated.

Love From Penny & Lyla is not yet a registered charity, but is an approved fundraiser under the Canberra Hospital Foundation. CHF are a registered charity and collect donations for us. All money donated via the Love From Penny & Lyla page on the CHF site goes directly into an account for Love From Penny & Lyla that can only be used by us to collate care boxes and bags.
Also, CHF obtained its full Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) charity status, meaning donations are tax deductible (more information on the CHF site).

Unfortunately at the moment we are unable to sell care boxes or bags. As all of our donations come in through the Canberra Hospital Foundations, we adhere to their constitution and rules about how the donations can be used.
It’s also a bit tricky to run two different structures (charity and business) at the moment.

As we adhere to CHF rules about using donated funds, we currently deliver boxes to facilities covered by CHF. This includes the Canberra Hospital, University of Canberra Hospital, Centenary Hospital for Women Youth & Children, health centres, walk in centres, and North Canberra Hospital.

This depends on how many donations we have received! The most efficient way is to put batches of at least 20 boxes together, as the ordering, invoicing and delivery time can take a while. This also ensures hospitals have a few boxes ready for when they need them. It’s usually about 3 - 4 months between deliveries.

I’m so deeply sorry for the loss of your baby. It’s heartbreaking, and I’m sorry that you didn’t receive a care box or bag from Love From Penny & Lyla.
Sadly, we are not yet able to keep up with the need for these items. There are other wonderful charities who provide care items (eg Bear of Hope), but unfortunately there’s not always enough available.
You may not have received one as there were none left, your health staff may not yet know they are available, or we haven’t yet provided to the hospital you were in.
Please contact me so we can look into why you didn’t get one, and we can work to fix the gaps. We are still working out the best ways to get these boxes to parents and would love to know where to improve.

We’ve included some support resources on our ‘Resource’ page. The organisations cover a broad range of grief and mental health support, so you can find something that suits your needs.
We’ve included baby loss-specific organisations (for any stage of loss), grief, parenting and acute mental health support.
If you can’t find what you’re after or are after a suggestion of something else, like books, information or gifts, please get in touch and I’ll see how I can help.
